Tarot & Mediations | Dominion, Delegation & The Sun

Welcome back.

This month, I’m reflecting on what happens when the tools we write with become part of the process itself. I’ve also got two tarot spreads to share—one on claiming ground, one on giving it—and we’ll be gathering later this week to read one of them together.

🌞 Guided Meditation on the Sun Card — Monday, July 7 at 8pm (ET)

We'll be gathering tonight to meditate on The Sun tarot card. After this session, there are only two meditations left—Judgement and The World—and we’ll have completed all 78 cards together.

If you’ve been with me since the beginning, or joined along the way, or quietly followed the journey in your own way—thank you! This feels like a deep milestone. You’re welcome to join this final stretch, whether you’ve come to one meditation or seventy-five.

New on the blog.

Where do you write?

Writers are often asked where they write. Here is my answer—still evolving—across machines, markers, and memory.

I made it through the first year of my MFA continuing to journal and then searching my journals for poems to type manually when needed for a class. This felt like making art objects with words.

These were like mono-prints made of language. My favorite thing was coming across these after forgetting I’d made them. If you’ve ever taken a long walk and run into your indoor cat along the way and immediately assumed it wasn’t your cat because your cat was definitely at home—you’ll know what it felt like to come across your forgot-you-wrote-it typewriter poem.

Tarot spreads.

Dominion Tarot Spread.

Last month's tarot spread worked with the King of Pentacles. It asks:

– What hill are you dying on?

– Advice on moving forward?

Tip: You can journal about these questions, with or without tarot cards.

Delegation Tarot Spread.

This month's tarot spread works with the Justice tarot card. It asks:

– What have you taken that needs to be paid forward?
– What have you given that you need to receive?

tarot & meditations

It’s tempting to hold back—especially when being seen has meant being misunderstood. But we aren’t meant to live as spectators. My work exists to invite people back into relationship with life: through meditation, tarot, art, and writing experiences that hold space for connection. Each offering is a small gesture toward re-entry. When we begin to show up, others do too. And that’s how it happens: we co-create something better, together.

Hello 2026! This month I decided to bring my art and tarot knowledge together to create an exercise you might find useful. I ended up writing quite a bit about my own tarot reading practice, specifically about the difference between projective tarot reading and intuitive tarot reading. You may be surprised at how I use both and why. The full post turned into a writing exercise you can try for yourself with any tarot or oracle card. After the excerpt from this blog post below, you will find my...

Hello December! This month's blog post has been in the works for months. I wanted to create a quick guide to help someone recognize whether a deck of cards is a tarot or not. As a tarot meetup organizer, I could see there was a need for this. Along the way I decided it was necessary to make clear what is not a tarot as well. So, if you already know what a tarot is, the section on non-tarot oracle deck systems may be of interest to you. Or the section on historical decks. I really went on a...

Hello November! That new collaborative project I told you about last month kicked off on October 23, 2025. Details about the next Amethyst Gate coming up this month on November 21, 2025 can be found at amethystgate.com. Our friend Elizabeth Kirwin did a write up on the first event that you can read at fairiesinamerica.com. I chose to write about the process that brought Amethyst Gate into being. Amethyst Gate is a new monthly literary series in Philadelphia that brings together poetry, music,...
