UPDATED! Tarot & Meditations September Newsletter

So sorry for the previous mysteriously disappearing email!

What I wanted to share with you this month is that I am starting September with a return to my painting practice. I haven't seriously painted since I graduated from college in 1997. Although I had numerous opportunities to practice my skills while teaching high school art classes, I find it hard to get back into the state of mind that painting used to take me. Admitting this feels like a challenge to my meditation practice. The state of mind is essentially the same but I find it difficult to achieve while painting the way I used to.

If you too are looking to start up a painting practice, you may be interested in the free course I am participating in this week. Louise Fletcher puts out an podcast I love called "Art Juice" with fellow painter Alice Sheridan. Luise's painting course is called "Find Your Joy" and it begins with a free week that she calls the "Find Your Joy Taster Course." The goal of the course is not to produce finished masterpieces, but simply to loosen up and find your joy while painting through a series of exercises.

Check out my first assignment! (acrylic on canvas, 20" x 30," 30 minute time limit, limit of 3 colors plus black and white)

This image is based on a photo I took on a long hike yesterday. How are you connecting with your joy and your creativity this month?

It’s tempting to hold back—especially when being seen has meant being misunderstood. But we aren’t meant to live as spectators. My work exists to invite people back into relationship with life: through meditation, tarot, art, and writing experiences that hold space for connection. Each offering is a small gesture toward re-entry. When we begin to show up, others do too. And that’s how it happens: we co-create something better, together.

Welcome back. This month, I’m reflecting on what happens when the tools we write with become part of the process itself. I’ve also got two tarot spreads to share—one on claiming ground, one on giving it—and we’ll be gathering later this week to read one of them together. 🌞 Guided Meditation on the Sun Card — Monday, July 7 at 8pm (ET) We'll be gathering tonight to meditate on The Sun tarot card. After this session, there are only two meditations left—Judgement and The World—and we’ll have...

Hello May! As last month's work with the Ace of Wands drew to a close with our tarot writing workshop, we noticed that seed of fire echoed in a powerful display of Major Arcana cards. If you're unfamiliar with the tarot or still finding your way into it, simply letting the names of these cards wash over you can help you begin to sense their energies. The Chariot, Death, The Hanged Man, and The Wheel of Fortune all made multiple appearances—echoing the change, tension, and uncertainty many of...

Hello April! As spring settles into Philadelphia, cherry blossoms bloom alongside charged conversations about community, justice, and what it means to belong. Across the city, the country, and the world, people are organizing, planting, protesting, gathering, and creating. There’s a collective sense that we’re being called to nurture something new—not only within ourselves, but in the structures and relationships that shape our daily lives. This month’s tarot spread speaks directly to that...
